The reason Fridays are the greatest day of the week... new music! I have created a playlist with some of my favorite releases of this past Friday, but here are my top few!
Mackenzie Carpenter ft. Midland: "I Wish You Would"

"I Wish You Would" is by far my favorite release of the week. I am loving the increase in love song duets that give off an old school vibes. Carpenter and Mark Wystrach, frontman of Midland, have voices that suit each other so well, it scratches an itch in your brain. Mackenzie is from the Athens area and keeps close ties to the community. I saw her perform at the 2024 Spotify Champions event opening for Megan Moroney and she has incredible stage presence! Her debut album Hey Country Queen comes out March 7th.
Bryan Martin: "Ain't My Old Man"

This song was my true introduction to Bryan Martin, and I immediately sent it to my dad when I heard it. His previous and most popular releases remind me of Warren Zeiders, they have a very similar voice and style. "Ain't My Old Man" is really heartfelt and the feeling of seeing your parents in yourself is a relatable feeling as I get older. Shoutout Scott!
Ryan Hurd: "Die For It"

Ryan Hurd has been out of the music scene for a little bit, with his last release being in 2021 and he has recently began releasing again as of 2024. Though he has released a couple of other singles in the last few months, I believe that "Die For It" could be a good return for him and become of one of his more popular releases. Hurd's album Midwest Rock & Roll drops next month and it will be interesting to see peoples' reactions!
Riley Green: "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" Cover

Sorry Apple Music listeners! Last week Spotify Singles released Riley Green's cover of "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" and the internet is obsessed with it. I have said this in my last post in reference to Ty Myers, but John Mayer is not easy to cover. If you can not tell I have a lot of respect for him as an artist. Riley has claimed in the past that "he just sings how he talks" and I think you can still hear that in this song, but it is something different for him and a little more challenging musically. Overall I am a fan! ERNEST has also released a great cover of this song if you are a John Mayer fan.
